Integration with Quality Management

Dear Friends,

We want to integrate DMS with Quality Management. We want to attach originals in the transactions Quality Usage Decsion (QA12 ) and Inspection lot (QA03).

I didn't found any objects for these. Is there any standard objects there. How can we bring the tab / screen for attaching / assigning DMS document in above said transactions.

Hi,

I found we can attach in "Services for Object" link in transaction QA12. If we do like this is there any problem / disadvantage.

Hi Sai,

This should work fine. However, ensure appropriate authrozations are provided for access.

Further, you can link documents with SAP objects for which no linking is supported in the standard SAP System. The below link will aid you to understand the same.

Thanks for the reply.

What do you mean by appropriate authorizations. Who is having authorization for that transaction only can do this ? or else is there any other authorization objects? If so can u tell me ?

If we use " services for Object" it will not store in content server. I hope directly it will store SAP DB. Retrieving the documents may be difficult. More if we start this users can do in other transactions also.

For example let us take case of Purchase Order, users can do thru DMS link or " services for Object". What are the advantages or disadvantages in both cases ?

Hi Sai,

By "...appropriate authorizations.." what i meant was, if you execute document management functions from within engineering change management, the system checks the authorizations for engineering change management as well. The authorization objects are allocated to the Production Planning object class.

In the second scenario, as DMS is the primary driver for all the associated functions, propose you use DMS link. This will also provide you with choice to take a call on storage area.

Hi Sai,

In QM you can link documents to standard objects like QM Info Record,Quality Notification and Inspection Method.

Apart from this if you want to add a new object please refere following link:

Hi SAi,

The difference I don't know. But solution I am telling that search screen exit in SE80.

If not available then you can go for z-development thru which the object of t-code will get added in object link and also the DMS screen will appear in the said t-code screen. Second option is to create a zt-code.

When we are using DMS, how to restrict the users not use this.

I do understand that we can create new objects and assign to DMS Doc. types. We can do it thru SE 80 or create new objects, module pools SAPLCV130 and SAPLCV140 and function module OBJECT_CHECK_XXXX (XXXX = object name).
