SMSY - change product version after upgrade

Former Member

Hi,

we've just upgraded our sandbox from R/3 4.6C to ERP 6.0.

It seems to be that this change of product version is not automatically reflected in SMSY.

Do we need to delete the 4.6C entry and define the ERP system from scratch ?

Or is there any hidden button "Change product version after upgrade" ?

Thanks !

This depends on the Datasource you have choosen. If its TMS/RFC use the read system data remote to get the new details of the components. For this, RFCs should be working fine.

There are no buttons, If the system is able to fetch the data automatically(you will get a yellow warning), you can always change the product version to the newer version by selecting it as Leading version. ( if used on logical components, you need to remove this entry from logical component to take effect).

If the Above steps are not working, you have to recreate the system, new.

Hope this helps.

Hi All,

as I understood we HAVE to remove system from Logical components (and System Groups/Landscapes) before changing the leading product version ?

But in this way we will lose existing data, such as EWA's and other monitoring and configuration information and data.

Hi

There is no need to delete the system and start from scratch.

All you need to do is to changed the installed product version under the Header data tab of the system to the latest product version you have installed. Once this is done and the landscape fetch is executed to fetch the component information you are good to go.

Just ensure that the olld system is removed from the old logical component before changing the product version else you might get a error message.

I managed to change the product version and cleaned up the logical components before.

But somehow there are inconsistencies e.g. the database server entry has gone.

Anyway it's more than i had before. Now i'm gonna try to remove those inconsistencies.

Thanks.
