Inspections on equipment

Hello all,

Safety valves need to be inspected, but depending on the functional location where they are installed, the inspection characteristics (MIC) will change (e.g. target levels will be different). Is it possible to define the MIC at the functional location and transfer them to the equipment installed and the equipment tasklist?

It's a nice challenge...and if you know of such functionality in SAP 4.6C, please let me know.

Hi Peter,

I want to rephrase your question.

If I am correct, whatever could be the equipment, MIC will based on FL. Then in case you assigned either Equipment1 or Equipment2, MIC will be same.

Hello Maheswaran,

That's correct. Our current proposal is to create a tasklist on the functional location with MIC and select the equipment in the PM order.

The measurement results would then be transfered from QM to PM measurement points on the functional location. Inspection results can then be listed in IK17 (enhancement: additional collum: Installed equipment, derived from the PM order)

Hi,

AS per your example, you are having Safety Valve as the Equipment. There can be "N" number of safety valves in a plant. Create the equipment with the serial number & assign that to FL.

You can create the MIC based on the FL but MIC should be assigned to Equipment. As equipment is specific to the particular FL, your issue could be addressed.

This is work around only. We may wait for some other response.

I would do this way.

If MIC are specific to the FLs, have them only on the FLs.

Create the Maintenance Plans on the FLs. Equipment installed on it will be a reference object in the WO.

Modify the Shop papers to print the MIC from the FL.

Tasklists on functional location level is an option. The thing is: the inspection lot will then also be created on the Functional location...i think. Inspection result history needs to be on the equipment.

I would have to test what happens when you enter the equipment in the order before releasing it (creating inspection lot). maybe the inspectionlot will be created with both equipment and functional location in it?

Inspection is done on the equipment itself, but the location where it's used will determine the characteristics to be inspected. Therefore the MIC will change based upon the location where the equipment is installed.

If the functional location and the equipment both are there on the order. Then we have the history of maintenance of the equipment.

I am not sure what happens when the Work Order is generated for a Maintenance Plan on the Functional Location. I think if there is only on Equipment installed on the functional location, the equipment number will be populated in the reference object by default. I am afraid.I am not sure about it.. need to test.

A workaround:

In this , automatic updation/ change of MIC values of equipment task list in installation of equipment to FL is not consider.

1) You need to create a detail task list which have all the required operation/MIC in it.

2) You need to make the equipment as configurable equipment,configurable class, characteristics ,

3) Maintain configuration profile for the task list

4) Maintain all the configurable value in the class/characteristics eg: which is require to segregate the operation/MIC with respect to the equipment installed in the functional location.

5) Class/ characteristics of the functional location should be used as a ref to change the characteristics value of the configurable equipment.

6) Manually you need to change the characteristics value of the configuration in the equipment master.

In short create a configurable task list and configure you task list operation base on the Characteristics value define in the configuration tab of the equipment master. And the characteristics value define in the equipment master is with ref to the functional location characteristics which is manual.

( I have tried to update automatically using user exit, FM and BAPI but not able to do . Let's wait for our friends to comment on this)

You would to develop a solution to transfer the MIC from FLoc to Equip (probably a batch program)

Why do you want to copy this data to the task list ?
