Hi all,

Please clarify me the difference between the Global fields, Floating Fields & Variables in Adobe life cycle designer.

I can't find any difference as it all intent to store variable text/values (Please correct me if I'm wrong).

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Nathan.S

1) global field (clled variables) = created through the menu, available from any script or any part of the form, appears in the hierarchy tab (as variables)

2) floating field = a way how to insert a dynamic value into a static text, that is done through linking a placeholder in the static text with an extra field (invisible) where you maintain the binding for the field

3) variable = 1) local variable in scripting (var MyVar) or 2) described in 1) = a statically defined, globally accessible variable

Hi Otto,

Thanks a lot for clarification.

But, I'm still unable to catch the Floating Fields exactly.

Can you please kindly explain with a practical scenario...

Thanks a ton in advance.

Regards,

Nathan.

Create a static text, right click "floating field". That creates a new field in the hierarchy which is not visible in the layout itself and in the static text a placeholder appears. Something like "Dear , please blah blah...". And next you will maintain the binding of the hidden field named username to provide the value into the static text. Otto

p.s.: Please help the other people, to get some more help here in future. 0 points and XY posts is not a good busiess card, at least in my eyes and eyes of the friends here.
