Calculate Average of Measure (SAP Analytics Cloud)

Hi all,

I've been working with the SAP Tutorial File 'Best Run Travel' and tried to calculate the Average Ticket price per Carrier Alliance as a calculated measure. The problem is that even though I selected average as operation and Ticket_Price as measure, SAP Analytics Cloud doesn't give me the average but the sum of the Ticket Price per Carrier Allience. (compare screenshot)

What do I need to change in order to get the average price per Carrier Alliance?

Hi when you are using exception aggregation (what you do when creating an aggregation measure in the story) it's like you create a data set in the context of what you have selected. In excel - it would be like creating a pivot table on top of your data in Excel and on that result - create and average on the value column in that pivot table

So if you want to see the average price per airline for all tickets, customers etc. add the lowest level in the data set - maybe the ticket

if you want to see the average passenger ticket per airline - bring in the passenger to the context and remove the ticket. Then it makes one line per passenger (even if the have traveled many times- just sums op the value) and then you would have average passenger revenue per airline
