Questions regarding Data Package Manager

Hi All,

I am facing following problem with DMP on BPC NW 7.0 version.

I do not see any default packages (FX translation etc) that comes with APSHELL

When I try to add package I could

1. maintain Data management

2. Manage packages (Organize list)

3. Add package group (Successful)

4. Add package (Added a Process Chain, Package Name, Description) under the package Group

Selected the Task type (User Package, Admin Package)

NO PROBLEM until these steps.

I see the Package name under the Package group.

But the PROBLEM comes when I save the package under the package group, it says that the "Package list successfully updated"

But in reality the package gets DELETED and never to be found.

So, the result is that I DON'T HAVE ANY PACKAGE TO RUN.

On the admin level I have given the user all ADMIN level security access.

Hi,

Lets narrow it down first to see if the issue is User specific or Product specific.

1. Try doing the same with the SysAdmin User id and see if the SysAdmin is able to add the DM package successfully or not.

2. If the SysAdmin is also having the same issue , then try doing the same in the Apshell or its pure copy.

3. Also try adding the DM package with the same user in a different machine.

Also is this the first time that the user is accessing the DM? Any changes made to system recently i mean either to BPC or Excel?

If it works in Apshell , then I would suggest trying running the security of the User once again and logoff and login back into BPC for Excel by going through the connection wizard and do the same.

Hi,

I have all the privileges. And it also happened in both Appshell and copy. And I have made no changes to the system. Actually I was trying it for the first time on NW version and I faced this problem.

I have tried all your options but the results are same.

Please suggest.

Hi,

So you mean even the SysAdmin user is seeing the same issue even in Apshell.

If this is the new install have you checked if the User had proper roles and profiles assigned in the backend abap. You can check in SU01 under Roles and Profiles tabs.

I don't have SU01 but can you please let me know what kinda roles and authorization should I expect on the back end side.

Hi,

Sorry I just got back from vacation. Well if you do not have access to ABAP system, then you can ask your colleague who manages the ABAP system like Basis person and check in the transaction code: SU01, if the BPC_SYSADMIN has the role "SAP_BPC_SYSADMIN" assigned to it and also generate the profile for this user id and assign it. Like this you will have 3 roles: BPC_ADMIN - should have a role of SAP_BPC_ADMIN, BPC_USER - should have a role of SAP_BPC_USER. Basis colleague can help you in generating the profiles for these roles if they dont exist.

Hi,

Raghu - There is only one team my user id is assigned to.

Sushma - Thanks for your valuable input. I will pass on to my Basis team as its their problem now.

Also, I had few questions regarding currency conversion and would appreciate if you can give me your input.

Hi Diksha,

To solve your DM package error,

Please check the promts are available or not in "DataManager Package view & Dynamic Script Editor".

Navigation: Go to eData,Organize Package list, select you package,modify,click on "View Package" and Click on Advance

Please check the promot. If there is no promot..just add it.

Hi Diksha,

Please go the Security, in TEAMS please see that your user id should be only in one TEAM, if your user id is

in 2 teams, please remove from one and keep your user ID only relevent TEAM. Then close the total BPC and Open again

and add the required package, save and please verify it.
