HANA SPS 12 XSA Client Installation

Former Member

Hi all,

Here is what I have done:

1) Successfully activated SAP HANA Developer Edition 1.0 SPS 12 in SAP Cloud Appliance on Azure

2) When I tried to Connect, I did not see an RDP link to log into the VM, instead it went to a web page with an IP address xx.xxx.xxx.xx:8000/sap/devs/edition/index.html

3) Downloaded the XSA Client for Windows and extracted the zip file.

4) Did not see any installation program or documentation to show me what I need to do next.

Can you please provide some direction here.

If you have downloaded the XSA client tools you can follow the steps liked described in the SAP HANA Academy Video XS Advanced: Install Client Tools (starting at 3:50) to configure them for usage. Of course you have to use e.g. your own API endpoint to logon.

Thanks Florian for your quick response. I did watch the video and four subsequent ones until I was able to see how an app is being developed.

What I really want to do is have a client IDE that I can use for local development and avoid using notepadd and doing all those command line steps. I thought XSA can be used as a local IDE. Any other suggestions?

Do I need HANA Studio? Is it available for public use?

Also tried HANA Express edition using VMWare and that didn't work either.

How about using Eclipse as a client IDE?

Cheers.

SAP delivers the SAP Web IDE for SAP HANA for XSA development. Check the videos on the SAP HANA Academy channel regarding HANA Express or watch the current OpenSAP course Software Development on SAP HANA (Update Q4/2016).
