1to1 email integration with lotus notes client/ inbox fails

Former Member

Hi there,

basically it is possible to access lotus notes inbox from the CRM 7.0 webui via e-mail inbox view.

Doing this, I receive a Windows IE dialog "Error: Could not dertermine Lotus Notes version".

I already applied SAP note 1028269 (and its related notes) and I am pretty confident about the CRM customizing. Client wise Lotus Notes 6.5.x is used.

Does anybody encountered the same issue and solved it already?

cheers,

gloin

Hello Gloin,

1. Are you using the latest version of client GWI software (version: 8.018). If not, then Please install the same from note 1443469.

There are some abap notes also required to be implemented in the CRM server. The note numbers are mentioned in note 1443469 in the prerequisite section as well as in the related notes section. Please check and confirm whether all the notes are implemented.

Kindly note that an upgrade is not supported for client GWI, therefore for installing a new version you will first have to uninstall the existing version. Below are the steps for the same.

a. Uninstall the existing version from add remove programs in control panel.

b. Delete the below registry keys.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SAP\CRMCalIntegration

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\CRMCalIntegration

c. Install the new version. The new version should have been uploaded in the mime repository in CRM server and the required version should be changed in the server as well. Please refer note 1443469 for details.

2. While installing GWI it is not just sufficient to select the option Lotus notes in the installation, please ensure that Lotus notes is

the default mail client specified in the system. You can do this in Internet Explorer->Tools-> Internet Options->Programs, specify Lotus notes in the email field.

Client GWI has to be reinstalled after doing this change.

3. Only Lotus notes 6.5, 7.0 and 8.0 are supported.

4. If you have options in the sync settings screen disabled, it is because you have not defined any profiles in CRM server for GWI. See Note 1428670 that explains the concept of profiles. By default if you have not defined any profile, then SAP_DEFAULT profile is sent to the client where all the sync settings are disabled.

5. The notes.ini file has an entry named 'MailFile'. This will have a value which has the name of .nsf file. In one of the notes.ini file that you have attached the value is dterleck.nsf.

The above value has to be specified in the below path.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\CRMCalIntegration\SyncSettings\Profile.

Hope that helps.

BR,

Hasan.

Hasan,

You seem to have extensive knowledge on client based GWI with Lotus notes.

I've worked on setting up the same on MS Outlook GWI for some customers but have a huge gray area on the Lotus notes front. Would you have any documentation or process flows that you could perhaps share on the GWI setup on client based integration for Lotus notes with CRM 7.0? I would highly appreciate it.

Hasan,

I've raised a topic in SDN on an area where I've been still facing issues with GWI & Lotus Notes. Ive gone through the OSS notes that have been released and we're in the process of applying them. However; im unsure if this will fix the problem.

Would you please take a look at my thread "Groupware Integration CRM 7.0 with Lotus Notes 6.5" and give me a few hints? I'd highly appreciate your expert opinion on the matter.

Hasan,

I've followed the methods you have described to upgade the GWI installation file. However; there are a couple of issues we're facing post installation

1. I could not accurately follow your suggestions on the .nsf file naming and its subsequent update into the registry. I found a '.nsf' file that correspoding to my user. I could not however; find the 'dterleck.nsf' file you have mentioned. To add, its not clear on what value is to be replaced in the registry. The existing value in the registry proile is MailFile... what do I have to change this to?

Please advice me your contact details; I would love to run this scenario through with you and take your inputs on where I could be going wrong.

Appreciate your help and quick response.

Thanks
