My apology if my question was bit generic. Let me explain from where this question raised in my mind.

Since we already past 2018, my client is planning to fix some SAP Global historical issues. One of them we are working on now is depreciation variance clean up – on GAAP books some of our assets already stopped depreciation but there are still NBV left, and we need to adjust the NBV to zero.

I have checked it and find that this issue occur because depreciation key or useful life has been changed during past years but the system does not recalculate depreciation for closed fiscal years. I have suggested two transaction code to fix this issue: ABZU (depreciation write up) or ABAA (unplanned depreciation). Preferably I told client to go for ABAA.

My question to you experts would be : Do you think I am in correct direction or I need to validate something else that I need to check. your valuable advice will help me a lot.
