Hi all,
I am trying to configure file monitoring in solution manager. the path of the folder that has file is longer one more than 60 characters.
but the system is not allowing me to define that one.
this maximum allowed file length is really turning out to be a big problem for us since we got so many files in that directory.
kindly guide us in achieving the req. that is monitor the file without any length restriction.
Thanks,
Subhashini.

Hi All,
The limitiations of BPMon application file monitor regarding the path and file name are as follows:
path length 60 characters
file name length 40 characters
those limitations are due to the fields definitions in ABAP Dictionary.
The only known workaround is the usage of short link/ soft link (as already proposed in this thread) with path shorter 60 and file name shorter 40 characters (as displayed in transaction AL11).
Kind regards,
Maciej

Hi Gagan,
Thanks for the reply...
currently that folder contains the inbound queue file....
creating a soft link is the only possible solution...or can we able to increase the length using some profile parameter...
because creating a softlink is again a dual work.
kindly advise in this regard.
Thanks,
Subhashini.

Hi,
Have you trie file monitoring using BPMON, i hope there is no restriction as such(I never tested so).
But try to activate BPM and then monitor file .
