Material transfer

Hi ,

In our company we use different masterdata system for the material master.

now one business unit use material code XXXX, another business unit using material YYYY, actually both materials are same, now we would like to use any one either XXXX or YYYY and extend the other

If we delete XXXX, how to do with inventory.

please advise what to in this case.
