Can we make the 57F4 (Job work challan) in depot plant.

Hi,

57F4 (Job work challan) is always used in manufacturing plant and not for depot . Its against the excise rule.

Ideally speaking, 57F4 challan would be used where you sub-contract some process to outside vendor and bring back the goods to manufacturing plant.

Having said this, in Depot, you are not suppose to carry out any additional activities as per Central Exciise Rule. Even if you do packing, then you should declare it as a plant and not depot. Better to check with the concerned Excise range in this regard.
