1 material - 2 accounts

Hi gurus,

I have a problem:

When I create 1 material code in MM01, I have to assign it to "trading goods" or "raw material", and system will assign it to suitable account.

But I have a material (for example: screw), when I sell to customer, it is trading goods and assign to 1 account (for example: 100xxx).

And when I put it in production (for example: bike production), it is raw material and assign to other account (for example: 111xxx).

Could I split 1 material code into 2 different accounts like that?

If yes, how will I do??

Thanks you!

Not to 1 material, but yes to 1 material type.

For assigning 2 valuation classes to 1 material you need to turn on split valuation and through

split valuation you can assign as many valuation classes to a material.

Its not always that a material belonging to material type is assigned to just one G/L, G/Ls are assigned to valuation class, may be in your case your material type is configured with just one valuation class.

For your requirement to get fulfilled, you need to create another valuation class, then assign different G/L to that valuation class, and then assign that valuation class to your material in ACCOUNTING 1 view of material master, this way your new material will get hit to the different G/L account, same way can be applied if different G/Ls are required for different materials.
