J1IV- Serial Number

Dear All,

While printing the Excise Invoice by the transaction J1IV system asking me to enter the serial number.

I want to know what is the significance of it?

And if i don't want the serial number what has to be done.

Any expert opinion

its the defaut settng given by sap for preprinted number

that is if u have pri printed numbered stationar u can give the number there befire printing

i think very less people used it

so that seria number pop up come to put the external pri prined invoice number

and i dont think there is any facility to ignore it , may be u can do it by abap by coping whole thing to Z and chang the coding for not comming that pop up
