Why is transport managed on a package level in CPI

Dear all,

I'd like to know why SAP chose to use the package as the minimal container that one can transport between two CPI tenants.

My guts feeling is, that this is still too wide approach for transport. Actually I could think of the following consequences by this:

  • One would create many (too many maybe) packages to keep the affected scenarios (iFlows) small
  • One would accidentally transport iFlows that were untouched or that were not ready yet

I think this is a cumbersome decision by SAP. Maybe someone can shed light into the decision / share one's approach in dealing with this.

Cheers

Jens
