Hello,
I'm unable to change material type for a material from ERSA to HIBE in MMAM
I'm getting the following error:
The material type cannot be changed.
The reasons for this are:
The new material type requires that all the following data
for the mat. is first archived and deleted:
Sales Data (MVKE)

your ERSA materials have sales views, your HIBEs dont.
If SAP would allow the change, then you would just loose those maintained sales data.
this would violate the audit rules, hence SAP does not allow the change.
As recommended you should archive the sales view first.
you can do that by setting a deletion flag at sales org level with MM06.
then you can run archiving with SARA for object MM_MATNR.
(archiving requires customizing, and usually a real strategy, creation of new material master is certainly easier and quicker)
Answer is mentioned in reason itself.
Check this HOW TO link for help:
The issue may be that the material type raw material is not allowed to have
the sales views but you have already created it for this material, now you
have to archive the sales view before changing the material type and make
sure there are no transactions on this material.
follow these steps to archive the material
1) Flag material for deletion. transaction MM06
2) Run report MMREO001 - Selection of materials flagged for deletion and
select the material
3) Run report MMREO050 Archive Materials to archive the material (some
customisig settings might be required)
4) Run report MMREO110 Deletion Program for Archiving Materials to delete
the material from the database.
