MCOD system SAP HANA Migration

Hello,

We are planning to perform the SAP HANA Migration using DMO for BW oracle MCOD system. We are having some questions before proceeding this.

Abap and Java are having separate SID and placed in single database. System Version NW 7.01.

DMO will support only Abap system for Hana Migration. What is the procedure to perform the HANA migration and upgrade to NW7.4 using DMO tool?

Before starting Abap part, we need to perform the Java upgrade to NW 7.4 then start with Abap part? If this is correct then we do not require to perform Java export/import like dual stack system?

If we start the migration using DMO tool for Abap then it will migrate the whole database to HANA database including Java system schema? Or is it require to perform Java export and import? If we need to perform java export/import then require only CI export/import or require Database export/import?

Thanks and Regards,

Anand

Hello Anand

Of course you have to save you own Objects in your BI-JAVA Stack prior to the deletion.

You will see that a new BI-JAVA Implementation were you import your existing objects is much easier as upgrading the BI-JAVA Stack. Furthermore there is no DMO option available for the JAVA Stack at all.

Hi,

Everything can be deployed into a MCOD configuratuon - https://blogs.sap.com/2016/10/11/software-application-lifecycle-management-sap-bw/#bwinstallation

In most of the cases a de-install of the BI-JAVA and a fresh Installation on SAP HANA is easier than try to upgrade/migrate the BI-JAVA Instance. See also - New Installation of SAP BI JAVA 7.30 – Options, Connectivity and Security

Hi Roland,

If we go for fresh installation of Java in target system then before start of migration we need to de-install the java part in source system? If we are installing the fresh java installation then all java related data will be lost from source system right?

We do not want to go with fresh java installation in this case we required to spilt the java schema from source database before we start with DMO tool? or java schema also will be migrated to HANA database using DMO tool since both abap and java schema placed in single database.?

Thanks and Regards,

Anand
