Hi,
We would like to begin using the accounting functionality provided by profile parameter dbs/db2/use_accounting=1.
We are in the process of setting this profile parm and I ran across note 1068654 which seems to indicate you also need to set the environment variable dbs_db2_use_accounting=1. The note description is "Customizing V9 CLI driver for ICLI and WebAS 6.20". We are running all 7.0 systems with DB2 V9 and DB2 Connect V9 thin client. I also noticed the output of our R3trans -d indicates that accounting is turned off.
Do we need the environment variable set as well as the profile parm?
Anyone's input on this wold be most appreciated.
Regards,
Bob
Thanks again Burkhard for your quick response.

Hi Bob,
correct - if you do not need accounting for the single task tools the profile parameter will do to switch on accounting for the system.

Thanks Burkhard for your prompt response.
This may sound obvious but I just want to confirm. For a normally running SAP system, the profile parm is enough to get the accounting data, correct? I'm not really interested in turning it on for R3trans or R3load.

Hi Bob,
yes - you need to set the environment variable to switch on accounting for standalone executables like R3trans, R3load, etc... because these tools don't read the profile.
