How to assign a iview to more than one page at a same time

Former Member

Hi Experts,

I have created 40 pages. I have to assign ivews to these pages. One of the iviews is common to all the pages. Going to each page and assigning the iview to that page will take alot of time. Is there a way in which i can add an iview to more than one page at the same time?

Thanks in advance,

Prisford Pereira.

May be not but what you can do is create the worksets and assign your 40 pages. Now assign the iView directly to the workset.

Thanks for the reply,

assigning iview to wokest does not assign iview to pages in the workset. This iview now acts as another page. Is there any property to be set?

For eg: Users with WS1 will have your pages 1-8 with the common iView and users with WS2 will have pages 9-16 and your common iView and so on. So now you just need to split the 40pages into say 5 WS and assign the common iView 5 times.

Does that help?

Actually, what i am trying to ask is, i have a custom regoin on my page for that i view. I am not able to understand that, by assigning iview to workset ,how will it show that iview on my pages?

Okay in that case it won't work.

Hi,

You should assign manually iview to each page.

Hi

You can do that using XML Content and Actions.

You can write XML in specified format and upload it to portal, that will automatically create the content for you in PCD. You can create iviews, pages, assign iviews to pages etc.

More details are available at the how to guide.

Hope this helps.

Create one Page with the actual iview which the page should contain.

Copy this page 39 times and edit other properties where ever required.

Thanks

Hi Prisford,

I don't think there is any option to directly assign iview to many different pages.

You need to do add manually because you need to organize the iview in the many different pages.

Hope it helps
