Required to Delete the Messages from SXMB_MONI-- Older than 7 Days

Former Member

Hi All,

I want to just delete the Messages older than 7 days every time those were processed from MONI to keep my DB as free, don't want to Archive any thing.

I have gone through many blogs and articles, but there it is mentioned that we need to carry out these from SXMB_ADM

1) Define Interfaces for Archiving and Retention Periods

2) Schedule Archiving Job

3) Schedule Delete Jobs

4) Configure Delete Procedure

Do i really require all these if i just want for deletion???

Regards

You cannot delete the messages directly. You have to perform the above steps.

Hi Sarvesh,

In this document it is saying that we need to create Logical Path on File server to Archive the messages which is i dont want.

Hi vamsi,

Archiving is a very important task with respect to SOX Compliance.

It is mandatory in some cases that you have to archive.

It doesn't get stored in any database if you are under such an assumption.

It gets stored on a file system only.

You have to use file system there is no other way. May be you can delete the messages later from file system.

I guess the best ans only SAP can provide you. Deleting the data directly without archiving is not possible and neither recommended.

@Sarvesh,

I disagree..

1) You can archive and delete ==> SAP Suggested option.

2) Delete w/o Archiving

SO you Can delete without Archiving.

Hi all,

We can delete with out Archiving when the messages are in success state using the report RSXMB_DELETE_MESSAGES

If you have messages in error, then u need to first cancel them then Archive with report RSXMB_ARCHIVE_MESSAGES

While archiving, the archived file will be created at E:\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\global\

and we can manually delete them from that location.

then to delete the messages from MONI run the report RSXMB_DELETE_ARCHIVED_MESSAGES
