I'm researching since a few hours what BW application changes are necessary to upgrade BIA 7.00 to BWA 7.20 - despite the naming difference
I already read the central notes and the upgrade note and lots of others (related to BO) but I couldn't find whether some specific SP is necessary in the BW system to use BWA 7.20 as we do now with BIA 7.00.
We're currently on SAP_BASIS SP 18 and we plan to upgrade to EHP1 SP 6 in about a month.
Thanx for any insights.
Markus

Hi Markus,
I can put your mind at rest, we also upgrading to EhP 1 SP6 and we are not planning to upgrade the BWA to 7.20. We just upgraded to the latest revision 54. If you are not planning to use BOE you can stay at 7.00.
If you want to upgrade to 7.20 please note that BIA 7. 0 indexes, which have been created for the BIA usage as part of SAP BusinessObjects Explorer, accelerated version for SAP NetWeaver BW (wave 1), can not be reused for BWA 7.20!!!
Please refert to note 1392524
Hope this helps you

Jens

To confirm the theory from above... We have finished the upgrade and the BWA is working like expected - a little bit buggy (issues relating alertserver and backup mode) but compatible with 7.01 SP06.
Just as information for you Markus, it seems to be that the authority concept were changed. The end-user couldn´t execute there queries because there was a new role for it, that must be assigned to all users. Currently I don´t exactly know the name of the role, but if you run in the same trouble I can ask for it.
Another issue was that we couldn´t change some user information in SU01 -> solution note 1418287

Hi,
I think that BW 7.2 will not be release, it will be included in 7.3.
One requirement i think that is that JAVA STACK and ABAP STACK should / must be decentralize.
In the BI Wiki you can find the links to SAP presentation.
