Time Evaluation - Rotating Shifts u2013 Average hours

Hi,

Assume the following scenario.

Over the cycle of a rotating shift, employees work an average of 40 hours a week.

In individual weeks they may work less or more then 40 depending on where they are in the rotation.

In a given week if they work their planned time we want to pay them 40 hours.

What is the recognised approach for dealing with this scenario?

I am suspicious a PCR along with other bits and pieces will be required or is there a clever way of meeting this requirement?

Any insights appreciated.

Cheers
