ALE transactions required ?

Hi

Mine is an Idoc to File scenario. I have finished with the IR part and all set to start with the ID part. I have done the mapping and all and the Idoc is already imported to the SWc. So do I still have to do the SM59, WE20 and WE21 transactions, the ALE transactions before going ahead with ID. Idoc is already imprted, to a different SWCV and I have finished mapping. Idocs are all imported to a common namespace.

Hi Midhun,

First things first. Importing an IDOC structure into IR and setting up the connectivity between SAP R/3 and XI system are not the same.

When you import the structure of the IDOC, you are just copying the structure of the idoc in the R/3 system into your IR. Thats it. It is at design time.

For the actual IDOC transfer to happen, you HAVE to do all the settings like SM59, we21, we20 etc.

Hi Ravi,

My situation is like this. I am using a MATMAS Idoc. But there is another configuration scenario created with import of same Idoc. That person would have created all these transcations. So when i create a new configuration scenario and when I use same idoc, do I still have to go for those settings.

I mean whenever I create a new configuration scenariop do I ahve to do all these settings ?

Interface for IDOC exists.....then no config required to be re-done for the same.

To be on the safer side just verify the steps (IDX1/2 etc)

Hi,

if the sender system i.e SAP ERP /ECC is the same as for the other scenario then no need to configure...

So if the same Idoc is repeated in another configuration scenario, then we don't have to import again.

Would it throw any exception if I create the transactions again ?

Not really,, If you are using a different SWVC where the message mapping are goint to be created then IDOC should imported under the SWCV

Try and understand why each step of ALE is required. There are many related docs available on SDN. Then you will know which steps need to be repeated and which should be left as it is. This is important because there have been a series of very basic questions in the thread.

You can check if you have to do these steps or if they have been already done by someone.

You can do ID config first, as you like.

ALE config and ID config must be finished before testing the scenario, but they are independend.
