Business Case: Our is a setup of multi companies /countries in a single tenant

We are already live with Taiwan Company and EMEA companies Implementation is in process. As per best practices proposed by SAP, we have created “Change Project” with merge back from a test tenant created with Full copy of Taiwan production system. We know that Organizational Management is not part of Solution Profile so they will not merge from Merge Back. In our Change Project scoping, we have scoped EMEA countries on test system and setup is under process.

Now, our questions are;

1) Can we create Organizational structure of EMEA companies directly on production though EMEA countries are not in scope (on production system) at this moment? If we do so, any problem while merge back ?

2) Does Organizational Structure has direct link with scoped countries? Or
3) Do we need to wait till the EMEA countries are available on Production (via merge-back) and then we create Organization structure of EMEA Countries directly on production?

Thanks in Advance for Expert's comment on this

Hello Biplab,

To Answer your concerns,

1) Can we create Organizational structure of EMEA companies directly on production though EMEA countries are not in scope (on production system) at this moment? If we do so, any problem while merge back ?

- You can upload the org structure that you have created in test system to Byd. Yes. ByD Org structures are not part of solution profile. So they are not automatically created when you merge change project to Production system. Technically, there is no issue in creating an org structure also on the production system. If the all other relevant fields values are available. For example During the org creation, you can also select the working day calendar. As long as the relevant calendar for your company is available to select that should be fine. Meaning, if you have in production scoped only China country, then International and china calendars are available. But not the German Calendar. this you have to change later when change project is merged with the correct value. these are not mandatory fields so should not be an issue during the creation of Org.

2) Does Organizational Structure has direct link with scoped countries? Or

- Yes, Like explained in the first question, Country of registration (You will get the warning : Country of registration for company XYZ has not been included in the scope of your solution. Country-specific content has not been loaded.), Default currency, Working day calendar.

3) Do we need to wait till the EMEA countries are available on Production (via merge-back) and then we create Organization structure of EMEA Countries directly on production?

- As explained, you can create the org structure in the production. However since the country specific settings are not available, Anyway you will have to change these later, Once the change project is merged. Also if you are creating an org structure, but you are not creating set of books (i.e accounting principle, Charts of account) and assigning company to Org etc activities then org structure would not be used anyway.

My Approach here would be Either

1) Create org structure and leave it in draft mode and wait for the merge to complete, so that you can change the settings if need be.

or 2) Create org structure after the merge.

In both the case, I would use the excel upload to create the org structure in the system. So basically using, the same excel that is used to upload the org structure in the test system. 🙂

I hope this would help you.
