Hi Guys,
We use LCM promotion to move folders and reports from one BO CMS to another empty BO CMS. We found the accesses to the folders are not transported. Do we need to transport user/groups/access levels first?
Thanks
Steven
And I'm going to point out here that security best practices are to grant/deny access for folders to user groups. Most companies will have the same user groups in Production and lower environments (QA, Dev, etc.) but do not have the same users in both. So, if your promoting to Production, you'll want to promote the user groups, but not necessarily the users that are in them.

Hi Dell,
Suppose we promote the folders and access levels along with users and groups in one job, will I see the same accesses to the folders in QAS system as in DEV system?
If we separate the folders and user/groups in two jobs, is there promotion sequence for these two jobs in order to get the same folder accessed?
Thanks
Steven
I think if you choose to promote object security in the promotion job properties, it will automatically pick up the user groups and/or users who have been granted access along with any custom access levels that might be used. It's been a while since I've done this process, though, and I'm not absolutely certain. If that doesn't get what you need, you only need to check the specific user groups that have been given access to the folder, any users who have been given individual access to the folders (outside of their groups assignments), and any custom access levels that have been used to configure that security.

The access and user security is dependencies of folder and report. when you create promotion job, you have to include it.

In the Promotion dialog, click the Security Settings page and then select "Promote Security". The promotion job must also include the users and/or groups that the rights are granted to.
