SessionFacade::openSessionLogon with user info has failed

Cannot connect to a CMS that resides on the network via a VM, but CMS name / host not defined within DNS. Tried to use IP, but get

[repo_proxy 13] SessionFacade::openSessionLogon with user info has failed(Unable to log on: Could not connect to server 10.65.9.1:8081. Please check that the server name is correct, and that the server is running.

Seeking a way to connect, any ideas?

I thinck you are specifying the Application server port number at the time of log in

please specify the CMS Name and CMS Port Number at the Time of Log in
