Madhu,
Can you please more specific, where you want to set up the change number to date?

Dear Kumar,
As per the control data settings for the date check in T Code OS54,the system will allow you to create the change number.
in my understanding the valid from date can either be the current date or else some future date, and the change number's with
current date(today's date) wil be allowed to use only for the day and it will not allowed be allowed to use tomorrow or in
future, likewise the change number's that are craeted with some future date will/can be used till that date is reached for making
any object changes that's valid for that change number.
In my understanding you can set the deltion flag and not a valid to date for an individual change number.
Check and revert.

Hi,
I would be interested if you can share where it states that you can specify the valid-to date.
Based on what i have worked on this & what i have read about it, there is no option to specify Valid-To date.
I believe the logic is that once you create a change number, you ideally expect it to be valid until the max possible date permitted, & this valid-to date changes only if there is a new version.
So i doubt engineering principles would ever state that i create a new revision of a part which will be valid only for a month, even if system allowed for it, then what will happen to the part after the valid-to date? There wont be any part to replace the same.

Vivek
Dear Mangalraj,
Thanks for ur reply
But still not clear
Just let me know
can we make an change number Valid from 12:05:2010 Vaild to 31:12:2010
after 31:12:2010 if some one is using an change number than system should throw an
Error that this change number is valid upto 31:12:2010, & it gets terminated
is the above possible or not
again i am reapting can we set change number Valid to date to 31:12:2010 ( some ware can we set this or not )
Once again expecting an valuable reply
Regards
Madhu
Dear Vivek,
Thanks very much for reply
i think i am clear now with your reply
But lastly can you explain it more clearly abt ur below lines
Unable to understand fully
So i doubt engineering principles would ever state that i create a new revision of a part which will be valid only for a month, even if system allowed for it, then what will happen to the part after the valid-to date? There wont be any part to replace the same.

Hi,
I take an example of BOM for CAR.
The top level items of the BOM would contain say Doors, Wheels, Winsheild etc.
Now when i create this BOM i expect that all these parts are valid till the end & never would i say I want to create a Door which is valid for 1 month.
Considering that system allows me to create a Bom item say Door with 1 month validity, then after 1 month, when BOM explodes, the Car will be produced without doors, is that acceptable?
Hence the logic is, if i want to replace a particular door with another one, i create a new change number with valid from date as next month & then replace the door with another material or if i dont want a door i remove the same, this way i am sure that i have removed the door conciously.
Hope the above example was able to give you some idea.
But i would strongly suggest to discuss with your engineering team & your PLM personnel to get a clear picture.
Regards,
Vivek
Dear Kumar,
In my understanding there is no such field to enter the valid to date for a change number.
Check whether setting a deletion flag for the change number can help you in this regard.
The best practise is create a change number as and when required with the required valid from date.
