Virtual Cube - details not shown fully

Dear Experts,

While trying to run a query on a virtual infoprovider, we are unable to fetch certain information in a particular record even though the same can be seen in the extractor results check in the source system(RSA3). We have found that the missing information are the details which are mapped in ZXRSAU01 which are not being picked up by the query.

Is this the standard way of SAP BI behaviour in the case of virtual infoproviders or am I missng something in the mapping procedure? Kindly provide your valuable suggestions to resolve this problem.

Hi Suneeth,

Are you using any start/end routine in the BI transforamtion?, Ideally if its a direct 1:1 mapping between the source system DS and BI then you should get the same RSA3 result in the Virtual infocube, where as if there is a code involve in the transformation then a STD code need to be included on top of your logic code.

Thanks for answering my query. currently we are facing the issue of the virtual cube not displaying any fields which are mapped in ZXRSAU01 and not directly mapped in the tables int he view. These fields are populated with data while executing rsa3 whereas they do not have data while displaying data in the virtual cube.

We have lots of fields in the virtual cube where tranfer routines are involved but but our issue is even prior to that. The fields populated through ZXRSAU01 in the source system are not reflected primarily in the results. Please let me know if any further clarification is required from my side. Currently, we are not using any start or end routines in the transformation.

Hi Suneeth,

If I understood it correctly, you are using CMOD - ZXRSAU01 to populate fields in the Datasource, these fields are correctly populated in RSA3 where as you are not able to view them in Virtual cube.

Have you flagged on all the CMOD- ZXRSAU01 Fields in the Datasourse ( RSA6) as ' Fields only known in Customer Exit '?

Hi Hiren,

Thanks for your mail once again. I just checked the DS and none of the fields in the DS are checked for ' Fields only known in Customer Exit ' even though more than 60% of the fields are extracted through ZXRSAU01. Shall I modify the DS and test the same?

Tried modifying the DS but the metioned column ' Fields only known in Customer Exit ' cannot be modified for any fields even though I am in change mode.

Hi Suneeth,

Yes, you have to flag on ' Fields only known in the customer exit ' againt all the char/keyfigure which are being populated via

ZXRSAU01,

Go to RSA6, Open the node>search for your DS>select it>click change> this will take you to DS.

See if you can able to flag on the (Fields only known in the customer exit ) againt these fields, Once done , save it and replicate to BI .

Hi Hiren,

I am unable to access that field even though I am in change mode for the datasource. Currently in the change mode for this datasource, only "Selection" and "Hide" columns can be changed.

The last column will open for only those Z fields that are appended and populated via CMOD, for the rest it will grayed out.

Can you please confirm again if you hve appended all those fields as Z fields in the apend structure of the DS and populating it via CMOD?, If that is the case then that column should be open for flag on.

Hi Hiren,

We do have some standard fields as well as Z fields in the data source which are populated through ZXRSAU01 in additional to the standard fields from the view. For this particular data source, the last column "Field only known in customer exit" is inactive and cannot be changed for all fields including Z fields,.

This Data source is derived from a table view in R/3.

I guess the problem lie somewhere else then, If the value are correctly populated in RSA3, then just do a small test. Create a infopackage in BI on this DS and pull the data to PSA, see if you can able to see in PSA.

I have already tried this earlier and all information are fetched perfectly into a standard infocube through infopackage. This issue happens only for the virtual provider.

This behaviour is pretty wired,

As I am also using 4 Virtual Infocube in my current project, and its working perfectly fine.

The difference is I dont have any Zfields in the DS ( populated via CMOD) , this look quite interesting,

Let me connect one virtual cube to the customer extractor in my sandbox, will get back to you with the outcome.

Hi Hiren,

Just to update and close this issue, SAP has replied that this is not possible. Remote cubes are not designed to read user exits in the source system. This is for anyone encoutering this problem in the future. Enclosing the reply from SAP for reference and thanks to you once again.

RemoteCube's extraction does not call any

user exit as it is implemented for a "real" DataSource extraction.

So there is no possibility to fill additional fields of an

append if not in the extractor itself.

Currently, if you need these fields for reporting there is no other

way than to do an extraction into a basic cube first. For a RemoteCube

this functionality is not implemented,
