Hi all!
We're considering purchasing SAP right now (Business All-in-One), and we've gone through the sales pitch, demos and even a reference call, but I would really like to ask some questions to a bunch of knowledgeable people, but can't figure out where I can post these questions...
Our phase 1 would be just Financials, but later on we would really like to consider moving to SAP CRM for our customer support and SFA (currently we use Salesforce).
While we feel that SAP would fulfill our needs as far as functionality, we don't seem to be able to get a straight answer around resource requirements. For example, how much customization (especially in CRM) can a "business" user do, versus having to get a SAP Developer to do it. For example, in Salesforce you can create custom fields populated with data calculated on other fields (e.g. if (Field.Status == 'Prospect') { Field.UpsideValue = (Field.DealValue / 2) }), and this can all be done by a regular Business user.
Also, using Business All-in-One, how much IT resource is required (NOT counting Database/SysAdmin resources - i.e. purely SAP-specific resources around day-to-day maintenance such as tweaks and modifications to the system), and how much Business resource is required (in addition to what you need to run a business without SAP, i.e. not counting the A/P, A/R, Controller, Payroll, etc, people), to use an SAP system?
As for our 'size', we're under 200 people right now, growing rapidly, and in the high tech B2B software industry. As such we're not dealing with millions of transactions or anything - we have under a thousand customers right now, and have relatively large deal sizes.
Any help or pointers is appreciated!
Thanks!
