Please forgive me for asking this question. I'm not an experienced SDK programmer, just a designer and consultant. The forums didn't seem to have an answer for my exact dilemma.
I have a situation where I need to have an action triggered before the document add. However, this action cannot be taken if the document;
1) Requires approval
2) Cannot be added due to rejection
From what I can see, the approval process is actually controlled during the add, and there is no way to determine what approvals (if any) are needed "before add".
Searching the forums, I can see that there is plenty of discussion about approvals and controls. But I need to trigger an action as a specific point in the process (before the add), but not if an approval is required. (FYI, this action will be completed if the document does not require approval, or has been approved.)
Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
~ terry.
Gordon,
I'm not sure if I was clear, but I'm trying to verify that an approval is required before the add. From what I see, the approval processes are not triggered until after the add. Which means that if I have any new processing, it must take place after the add. I need my processing to be contingent on the approval process, and be triggered before the add.
If there are more details or other suggestions, please fell free to offer.
Thanks!
~ terry.

Hi Terry,
A careful defined Approval Procedure is all you need. As long as your approvals cover all possible conditions, your dilemma would be solved.
Thanks,
Gordon
