HCI - Sandbox / Production usage.

Hi,

WRT development cycles of data flows and projects in HCI- DS, when a new task is defined it is not possible to change the target table in the database. It has to be chosen at first.

I develop data flows for testing against a DEV schema, If I move the data flow to PROD still the data flows will be against the DEV schema, Is it not possible to change the target schema / table when moving to PROD from SANDBOX

    Hi Vyas,

Is the table different in DEV database compared to PRD database? It has to be the same table (Name, Atributtes, etc.).

If they are the same there is no need to change the target table, you only need to change the Configuration properties of the Datastore and point to PRD. You can create different configurations in the same datastore.

    Hi Roberto,

The tables are same but the instance would change. currently the data store has schema ID as "qwe" when the application moves to prod instance i can of course change the data store settings but wouldn't it affect the data flows and projects in sand box. What if i have to create new projects in sand box. Still like you said this would apply if the SCHEMA and TABLE names don't change. What if the schema names change ?

    can HCI DS handle this?

    Hi Vyas,

In HCI you have 2 environments, Sandbox and Production. You should develope and test in Sandbox, promote the tasks to Production and there connect to the PRD database.

The same should happen in the Database. They develope in Development environment and transport it to Production. Basically, what you have to know is that HCI excecute a sql query in the database. The same sql query has to work in development and in the rest of environments.

    Thanks.
