SOLMAN & IDES ERP 6 installation on same host

HI All,

i have a server with 16 GB RAM, 600 Gb HDD & 1-2 Intel xeon 64-bit processor. with this confg i want to intall SOLMAN 7 & IDES ERP6 on same server.

1.Can any one tell how much sapce is required for the file system like /oracle, etc.

2.what are the steps to be followed for installation

But i ahave an another issue. The same server is being used by other DEP and /oreacle is alredy existing. Now my question is 1.

1. while installation will it create a new /oracle or overwrite it.

2. and also of the 600GB HDD already existing /oracle is using 170 GB HDD & i am left with only 430GB HDD

3. while installation do i need to take the downtime with them

4. will i get any cross application issues? if yes what type of errors will i get

Hi Palle,

Please see the below responses

1. If you are using the same oracle release it will create folder inside the oracle directory with the SID like /oracle/SID..this will not hamper existing oracle set up..even you try to have a separate drive for this oracle installation so that a new oracle home will be installed and can be used for SAP SOLMAN and ECC

2. I guess you are using for testing purpose 430GB HDD is enough for this but if you go for RAID level you will not get that much usable space

3. Not required, but don't use the existing listner name and port numbers

4. I don't think so but ensure that you install oracle on a separate drive

Hi Palle,

Please find the below information

1. You can install SOLMAN EHP1 and ECC 6 IDES in 600 GB Hard disk space( IDES DB would be around 270 GB and SOLMAN Would be around 100 GB)

2. You have to change the listner name and port for second instance installation

With your measures (16 GB RAM, 600 Gb HDD & 1-2 Intel xeon 64-bit processor), it can be possible to go for Solman and Ides on the same host . Check the installation guide for step by step information for installation > http://service.sap.com/instguides .

Hello Palle,

Based on the specifications given, this system should be adaquate for Solution Manager alone.

I would suggest you first have a look at:

> service.sap.com/sizing

You also will find the minimum system requirements in the installation guide for these two products. There you should be able to to get a good idea of the physical system requirements need to place both these application systems on one physical server.
