Serial & batch numbers for sub items in a MTO serialized product

Former Member

Hello all,

I'm working on a scenario to keep traceability of some components of a finished serialized product (MTO production). Its BOM is structured as follows:

- Part A: purchased goods, managed in batches

- Part B: purchased goods, identified individually by serial number

- Part C: purchased goods, managed in batches and identified individually by serial number

The aim is to know the batch/serial numbers of the sub items assembled to a particular finished product (identified as well by a serial number). So far, by maintaining the master data for the materials in MM02 (batch management and serial number profiles), I managed to have traceability of part A by specifying the batch number when releasing the production order of the finished product. However, the system does not request the input of the serial numbers of parts B and C. Backflushing is activated for all parts. Serial number profiles: PPAU Usage set to 03 and EqReq to 02 for all serialized materials.

Could anybody please let me understand if this scenario can be achieved in SAP and, if positive, give any pointers on how to configure the system?

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Best regards

Manuel

Hello,

I believe you will have to go for customized solution where in you can maintain traceability as you are using both serial numbers and batch management, you can try to explore the option of Installed Base (IBase) in SAP.

You can create a Instaleld Base for your finished product which will have traceability information for all the lower level components.

Alterntative is also to create a custom table where traceability information is stored and against the finished product production order.

Hope this helps.
