Netweaver 2004s SPS21 or EHP1 SP06

We are planning on doing an upgrade of our Enterprise Portal from

NW2004s SPS18 to:

  • SPS21 or EHP1 SP06

Note: I don't know witch benefits or disavantage from one or the other

in the case of a Portal Enterprise solution, in theory they are the

same?.

Now I check on the component download page, And I see that for TREX

component on EHP1 SP06 I can onl select Linux 64bit. We have our

entired platform on 32 bit Windows.

Does the TREX from EHP1 SP06 is only available for linux from SP06.?

I don't know if I should go to the SPS21, or EhP1 SP06?

Regards

Henry

not really, for existing NW 7.0 functions they are the same, for new function/featured release for NW 7.01 you can only find in EHP1.

Yes, that's what you saw in NW sp stack application, because SAP only released patch 52 for 64bit TREX on Linux platform

the other platform are not released yet, and the latest patch level is still 50. patch 52 is defined in SPS6 document but not 50, so you can not select it.

I guess TREX is developed on Linux 64 bit platform first and ported to ther platform, Patch 52 is just lag but will be released.

However you still can use patch 50 for the time being.

Please also bear in mind, SAP will not support any other platform but only Windows x86_64 and Linux x86_64 platform from version 7.1 on.

I would recommend you go for EHP1 SPS6 and stay with 32bit TREX for now, but you need actively plan the hardware upgrade from 32bit to 64bit.

p.s. please also pay attention to this note 1158215.
