Error installing ECC 6 - can't see some files while installing

Former Member

I'm trying to install SAP ECC 6.0 . Everything went fine, while installing the Central Instance , it asked for the Java Runtime file (or something like that - Label.asc) & i gave it , then it asked for J2E policy and while i try to give the path using the browse button, I can't see the zip file - but it is there in the hard disk . Aslo while giving the Java Runtime file (or something like that - Label.asc), I saw those files, but in the next step those files disappeared ? How ?

{I'm basically a ABAPer and I tried to install SAP 4.7 , ECC 5 by myself and friends and successfully installed . Now I'm trying to install ECC 6 }

Though the file is present in the Hard disk, I can't select those files using the Browse button in Central Instance Installation. While selecting using the Browse button in previous step, i can see those files. I just can't understand what is happening .

What is the reason for that ? or What will be the error ?

Can anyone help me in this regard please ?

Eagerly expecting the correct reason for this error and how to solve it ...

Hi Kannan,

It is extremely difficult to imagine that you have the files on the hard disk but your sapinst is not able to read them. Try the following:

1. What is the operating system? Unix/Linux or Windows. If it is Unix/Linux, try to assign 777 permissions to the entire directory containing these files. command for this is:

chmod -R 777 *

2. Have you correctly installed jdk1.4.2 on the host machine and also, have you set the JAVA_HOME environment variable to point to jdk1.4.2 directory?

3. Finally, it is also possible that you may have download incorrect installation master DVD, which means that your installation master DVD may not be for your specific OS. In this case, you can check on service marketplace to see whether the DVD is correct.

Hi

My OS is Windows server 2003 . I have installed Java & also set the JAVA_HOME path also correctly .

The DVD is not a problem bcoz, while i was trying to install previously it goes upto the final step & I got struck with the Solman Key . Now i got the Key, but it is not going to the next step .

Ok I'll try it again and will inform you the status.

Thanks for your guidance.

Hi

I installed ECC 6 successfully.

But to start or stop the Server it is asking for a OS User & Password .

In my system i have not given any Password, but the server is not accepting it.

I don't know what to do ? What will be the User & Password to start or stop the server.( While installing it asked for some password & i gave 'abc12345678' [but i'm not sure, bcoz initially i give '12345678' and it asked for other PW with Character & Numeric & i added 'abc' in fornt or back of '12345678' ] and it is not accepting that password also. Please guide me what to do..

Thanks in advance
