We are tyring to install MaxDB 7.6 on Red hat enterprise linux 5.5. We are getting "kernel died before reaching admin state" errors when trying to start the database. We are not using MaxDB as part of SAP.
Is Red hat enterprise linux 5.5 supported?
Thanks in advance,
Thanks Simon and Markus for your replies. We got it working.

Hi,
MaxDB 7.6 and now also 7.7 has worked for us on EL5.0 - EL5.4 for i386 and x86_64 architectures. I don't expect something to break in EL5.5.
Did you check that you have enough free space on all filesystems, and that you have enough memory in the box for your configured instances?
Regards,
Simon

What if there is no knldiag file? We can see the database via the Database Manager.
Our main concern at this point is if you know if OS Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5 is supported? Have you ever tried installing MaxDB on this OS.
Thanks,
Heidi

To find out the cause of the error please post the last lines of knldiag in the work directory.
