Question about BPs

Hello,

SAP says that a BP can be any of the following:

Accounts: An account is a company, individual, or group with which you have a business relationship. An account can be, for example, a customer, prospect, vendor, or competitor. Accounts are subdivided into the following types:

o Corporate accounts (companies or organizations)

o Individual accounts (private individuals)

o Groups (any groupings, such as households)

Contacts: A contact is a person with whom you have a business relationship, and is mostly assigned to a corporate account.

Employees: An employee is a member of your company, and involved in the interactions between your company and customers, prospects, vendors, and other parties.

What happen in the following scenario?

In my IC I receive calls of Corporate Accounts (Contact Persons) and Individual Accounts (Consumers). If I create a Contact Person called AB and then this Contact Person call me as a Consumer.

How do I manage this? The BP should be created two times? As a CP and as a Consumer? In WebClient depending of the role an specific page/view is called and different assigment blocks are available. Or the BP should be created only once with the two roles?

Any input about this?

Best Regards

Hello!

There is no need to create a new additional Business Partner. The Contact Person is somehow classified as a central Business Partner with one (or more) Relationships to other Accounts which makes the BP to a Contact Person as well.

I have also posted a blog:

[CRM 7.0 - How to distinguish between Contact Persons and Accounts?|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/13833] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken];

There are some tricks how to better distinguish between Contact Persons and Accounts.

Best regards

Hi,

You need to create the BP as contact person and maintain a relationship with the Corporate Account. If my answer is not satisfactory please elaborate the query further.

Thank You Arup,

But what happen when this Contact Person calls to your Contact Center as a Consumer and he is already a Contact Person?

Do I need to assign the new role: Consumer to this BP or do I need to create a new BP? I'm asking this because is not clear for me in documentation if a Contact Person have the same treatment as a Private Account (in this case Consumer).

Best Regards.

Hi JM,

If you have the same person who is a consumer as well as a contact person then you can create a BP person with role consumer and under relationship you maintain " Is Contact Person for".
