IDES ERP 6.0 Linux: Stuck on Phase 24: NIECONN_REFUSED.

Former Member
0 Kudos

I have managed to install the IDES ERP 6.0 (ECC 6.0 + ABAP stack) in Linux until Phase 24: Start instance. The installer gets back to me saying that an error occurred. When I click the View Log button, it shows:

Connect to message server (svrprd01/3901) failed: NIECONN_REFUSED

Apparently, it is looking for the message server on port 3901. I look in the /etc/services file and noticed the following entry:

sapmsD10 3601/tcp

Therefore, I am not sure why the installer created the message server port entry in the services file as port 3601, but then is trying to connect to port 3901.

Can someone kindly recommend how I may go about fixing this issue? Any help is greatly appreciated as I am close to finishing the install...

EDIT: I just remembered that during the define parameters part of the installation that I specified:

ABAP Message Server Port: 3601
Internal ABAP Message Server Port: 3901

These were the defaults proposed and I accepted them. Could this be what is causing the issue?

Thanks for both your replies:

1. I did try to stop the installation and restart the whole system after changing the parameters in DEFAULT.PFL. However, upon restarting, I executed sapinst and received the same error message about SAP not being able to find the message server on port 3901 (had changed to 4901).

2. I am not aware of anything depending on the NIMSH service on my system at the moment. I commented out the line in /etc/services and ran netstat and it showed that nothing was using port 3901. However, it seems that SAP is still looking for message server on port 3901 and there is no message server present there.

Would it be possible for me to manually start the message server or the different stages manually? From my understanding, the following parts need to be started in the following order:

- Start Listener

- Start DB

- Start SAP App Server

I am not sure at what stage the message server needs to be started, or what commands I need to start the message server.

I have attached the following logs for download:

I will also be looking at the log contents myself. If anyone can kindly advice as to what the possible issue is, that would be much appreciated.

Looking at the logs below, I think I've identified the issue (Cannot allocate memory). It seems I will need to assign additional memory to this instance in order for it to run:

Using implementation map

Okay, I looked carefully through the /etc/services file and noticed that port 3901 was being used by another service. Therefore, I went to /usr/sap/D10/SYS/profile and changed the parameter:

from

rdisp/msserv_internal = 3901

to

rdisp/msserv_internal = 4901

in the DEFAULT.PFL file and restarted the system. Upon relaunching the installer, it seems it is still trying to reconnect to port 3901 based on the same error message. Does anyone know why the msserv_internal parameter does not seem to be working? Is the installer reading the settings from another profile?

Hi,

Did you try to restart the server after changing parameter value?

If the values for rdisp/msserv and/or rdisp/msserv_internal are changed, then both the message server and the application server must be restarted so that these changes come into effect.

if still not working then stop your installation and restart linux server then continue your installation.

kaushal

I wouldn't change the port of rdisp/msserv_internal, simply comment out the service(nimsh) using it in /etc/services. Unless of course you are actually running another service on this port ? ...you can check with the command: netstat -plnt |grep 3901
