We are conducting a performance test/load before golive of HCM in SAP.
I am looking at DB02 but have NO idea of what to monitor for? there is so MUCH
Any suggestions, would certainly be appreciated asap
Thank you so much!

Maria,
From DB02, the most basic things that you can monitor are the database and tablespace and log utilization levels. So, you can start by monitoring the free space for database and logs.
Further, if you want to look at any indexes, you can find them from DB02 as well.

Well, you can look at the % free space available in the database to see database growth. Same with logs. You can see which tablespaces are getting filled up and which need to be extended. You can, for example, consider extending the database or taking log backup when they exceed 90% utilization. again this figure depends on your database size, etc.
Can you tell me the database that you are using as DB02 also depends on the database being used.

Shitij
Well, rather than trying to explain in the forum, I suggest you download the document "The SAP DBA Cockpit for Microsoft SQL Server" from:
This will explain everything you need to know about DB02 transaction for MS SQL server. You can read through it find out what all monitoring can be done.
You can check the following Areas:
Performance (ST04)
Space (DB02)
Configuration = Some ST04 detail screens plus new ones
Diagnostics = Some ST04 and DB02 detail screens plus new ones
Frankly, Space and performance are the main areas.
Refer to the guide and this should solve all your doubts.

Shitij
Hi Maria,
in my point of view you should especially use these transactions:
- ST03N Workload Monitor
Pay attention to the statistics collection too, in particular read OSS Note number 127642 and chech that the jobs run properly.
- ST06 OS Monitor
- ST02 Buffer Monitor
- ST04 Database Monitor

Fabrizio
