Hello Experts ,

Can any one please tell me where we can use CTS ,CMS and CTS+? CTS and TMS both are same or different ?

if above are used for transport the objects between systems /client ? then what about ChaRM ? it is also used for moving the objects right ? please clarify me i am so confused.

I think CTS( also called TMS) ---for ABAP Systems

CMS - for JAVA systems

ChaRM ---for ??

Thanks ,

Raj

By using two ways we can transport the objects.

1. Change Management System.

2. Change Transport System.

Change Management System (CMS) : Change Management Service (CMS) is part of SAP Net Weaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI). This service
enables you to configure your transport landscape and manage the transport of objects between different systems.

Automated procedure for transporting....
1. Configure the CMS according to the environment and then no reason to login to the server to copy the files.
2. It is very Easier.
3. Takes less time compared to the file system.
4. Feasible for land scape having more interfaces.
5. Configuration has to be done setting various servers according to the server time spent in the configuration may be more.

CMS --> Its runs on J2EE engine.

CMS is generally used to transport Java development objects. The XI Integration Server uses CMS to transport Integration Server content.

Change Transport System (CTS) : Change Transport System (CTS) is the central tool for managing changes to Customizing and Repository data that you make in the IMG/ABAP
Workbench. The CTS records all changes in change requests. CTS is the Product Completion Level.Shows the production process phase that has been reached by the product.

Change Request Management (ChaRM)

What is Change Request Management?

1). SAP ChaRM is tool delivered with SAP Solution manager that manages activities performed during a change from design to testing to final promotion to production system. It allows you to track change requests, transport requests in change management system in the entire business solution.

2). SAP ChaRM uses a workflow based approval for Transport management, audit proof documentation of the functional changes in solution landscape.

3). with the help of ChaRM by using project we can extend the TMS functionality by ensuring all transports are moved together into QA, integration/regression tested as a whole, and imported into Production collectively.

4). Spreadsheets are no longer needed as the SAP Solution Manager Project will keep track of which transport requests are associated to which project and the order they need to be imported.
