Former Member

Hi people!

1) Ativated a depreciation area to an Asset class. To that depreciation area area configurated 4 years as useful life and depreciation key = CIAP.

2) However, after I executed AFBN the depreciation area was opend in asset master data but with diferent depreciation key and useful llife.

PS: The depreciation area is not the main area.

Does someone have any idea of how to fix it?

Thank you

Once the new area is opened the only thing you can do (other than starting over) is mass change for the key and life. I find that using an LSMW is the easier solution to make the mass change.

When you run AFBN there are 2 check boxes and depending on which you check in combination with the config settings in the dep area it will determine what gets populated in the key when you run AFBN. In the dep area definition, the dep terms can be defined as coming from a superior reference class. This setting can also be further defined to take on identical dep terms from the reference class. (Means you cannot change the key or life).

When I open up a new area I test in a sandbox or QA many times as you get one shot at it in PRD. As a last result If it goes wrong in PRD you can always delete the area in Dev and transport it into PRD and the start the process over again by creating the new area in Dev. That is a lot of work.

I have used the following technique to test. If I have a sandbox I create the new area and only activate it in 1 class. If I don't have a sandbox I will create in Dev and then transport the one class to QA. I run AFBN checking the appropriate boxes and see if I get the result I want in that 1 asset class. If not then I activate the new area in another class and then redo the process with a different combination of config and check boxes until I get the result I want. I then go back to DEV and activate the new area in all the classes and move it through QA to PRD. Only then do I run AFBN in PRD.
