available.log on ECC4.6c

Hello experts,

For checking uptime of system, I found an available.log in /usr/sap/<SID>/<Instance>/work on ECC6.0

However, I supposed that I'd find an uptime&downtime log(such as available.log) on ECC4.6c in similar directory, but I didn't.

1.Did I just look at wrong directory, available.log should be existed on ECC4.6c but different directory?

2.Or I should check uptime&downtime in different log file instead available.log? It means available.log doesn't exist on ECC4.6c
3.Besides, are there any other method(such as Tcode, OS terminal command) for checking the available time, like bellow messages:
Unavailable 10.12.2017 hh:mm:ss - 12.12.2018 hh:mm:ss
Available 12.12.2018 hh:mm:ss - 19.12.2019 hh:mm:ss

Thank you,
Yanyo

You may read the below note regrading the available.log file

1653278 - Available.log reports SAP is down on running system

To check when the system was started check Tx ST02 and there you can see the startup time.

1.That note is not my situation, but thank you.

2.Could you explain more about Tcode ST02 for seeing startup time? My system is 4.6c

The note is basically to inform you that the available.log is not useful. Tx ST02 will show you the system start up time at the top. As far as I am aware it has been on all releases of an ABAP system.

"Available.log is not in use for now?"

I don't agree this, maybe I read too less books.

However, in my other "new" system, such as ECC6.0 and S/4 HANA(new enough, right?), available.log still exsists.

Thank for your reply

I am not debating on if the log available.log file is present or not. My suggestions are basically to make your aware that such a log is not going to provide you the information you are looking for.
