Considerations while adding a new Planning Version

All,

We have a situation wherein the best possible solution for us would be to add a new planning version, initialize it selectively for only certain key figures, and then use the 'version specific key figure functionality' for only these keyfigures. Now, following are the questions:

-> What are the considerations for adding a new planning version

-> impact on performance and how much (i will just initialize it for 3-4 KFs for only 1 planning area (DP))

-> considerations while transporting

Your responses will be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Abhi

    Hi,

    Few thoughts from my end.

    -> What are the considerations for adding a new planning version

    Nothing much, you can actually create it under the same model, so there should be nothing to worry abt.

    -> impact on performance and how much (i will just initialize it for 3-4 KFs for only 1 planning area (DP))

    Again not much of an impact. Pls make sure you have suffcient LC space for addition 3-4 KF for the entire horizon. Pls note that the 'version specific key figure functionality' has a few bugs in its screen, it wont save the date and hence automatic or background rollover od dates is not possible. SAP has released some OSS notes for the same, but they dont appear to resolve the concern.

    -> considerations while transporting

    Any transport of the Planning Area, will require all versions under that to be backed up, de initialized and re-initialized, this is for all versions.

    Apart from these, it should be a smooth process.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks

    Mani

      Hi,

      No that shud not be required.

      What I was trying to convey was, later on when you make some changes to teh Planning area struture, you will have to de-initialize the time series for all versions under the planning area and re-initialize the same.

      For now, nothing is required.

      Thanks
