Alternae BOM during MRP RUN

Dear PP Gurus,

I have a finished product for which there are 2 bom, When I run MRP for this finished product , which BOM system will consider? Is there anyway by which i can deicde which BOM it should consider?

Dear,

If a product contains more than one alternative BOM,try to mention this by creating different prod.versions.

You can assigne the production version in MD61 against the PIR's under schedule line tab key (in the top menu click on settings and prod version ,then you can assign the prod version which you need to pick during the MRP run),

Also selection method is maintained in Material master MRP4 view.whether the BOM needs to be selected through BOM Qty. Explosion date or Production version....

Or use BAdI MD_MODIFY_PRODVERS.

But there is also a semifished assembly for which there are 2 alternates BOM say, The PIR is entered at finished product level inMD61, and not at semifinished level so i cannot maintain production version in md61 schedule line tab

but when i run MRP system should explode BOM ALT 2 for this semifinished assembly.

how to do this?

Dear,

For selection you have option like Validity date, Lot size, You can also lock the PV so system by default will pick second alternative.

Another best option is Define Alternative Determination for Multiple BOMs in OS32.

Hi

In BOM explosion between multiple BOMs , the alternative 1 is the highest priority.So the first time you create a BOM for each material you may want to create the BOM using character and alpha combination such as A1

example: BOM Alt 1 as ' A1 ' and BOM alt 2 as ' 1 ', MRP run explodes alt 2 BOM during planning

Hi

During planning run, the system first checks which BOM usage has the highest priority, then it checks if this usage has a valid BOM on the explosion date. you determine the priority of usage for the planning run using the selection ID in the customizing for MRP

If there are various alternatives, the system checks which alternative corresponds to the prerequisites of the alternative selection based on the alternative selection indicator in material master,

order quantity, explosion date and production version

Could you please tell me what exactly i have to do in customizing... i checked in t code OS31 , selection ID is 01 is maintained for for BOM usage 1 (production)

Also

lets say for a finished material , I have 2 bom

When I am creating a production order, system picks alt bom 1, what to do if i want to use alternate bom 2,

it comes grey in the master data tab., so i am not able to select the bom

Hi

well, if you want system to automatically select the BOM during production order creation , you should create the BOM with different lot sizes or different explosion date or different production version number (numeric value is highest priority than alphanumeric ) and assign selection indicators in MRP4 view accordingly

otherwise, if you want to select BOM manually during production order creation via production version, create PV for each BOM

you should assign manual selection of production version in img - order type dependent parameters (OPL8) for plant order type combination and in material master MRP 4 view BOM selection mathod assign selection by production version (2)

while production order creation system pop up the production versions and you should select manually
