Ways to estimate the impact of an ECC6 upgrade on roles and auths

Hi

My company will be upgrading from 4.6c to ECC6 at some point in the next year. I'm looking to assess the potential impact on security, is there a way that I can do this with existing tools? We'll probably go for a QUE nearer the time, but I wondered whether there were any tools I could utilize now to get a rough idea.

If I understand correctly, running SU25 is only relevant once the upgrade has been completed?

Any advice appreciated

Thanks

    geeba,

once you finish upgrading in sandbox, you have to evaluate using SU25. the other option is also similar, they is a tool called Panaya (you have to purchase), to evaluate the same in sandbox after upgrade.

    Thanks,

    SS

Take a look in the security wiki...

Table TCODE_MOD is the "key" you are looking for, however from 4.6C you might want to consider PRGN_CORR2 first.

I am not aware of a standard tool to present an estimate of implementation specific changes beyond what SU25 does to process them, but boxing it together for those roles which are used is not difficult in Excel or a fairly simple ABAP utility.

I can recommend it, as it makes sense to systematically remove some proposals and perform some mass maintenance on others where you have proposed granular authorizations, but want to change the concept later (eg. program groups, or file name conventions, or archive repositories, etc).

    Cheers,

    Julius

The only tool I know which would point out object by objects that is new to the transaction before you make an upgrade (i. e. preparing the ground for your SU24) is a 3rd party service, delivered by Panaya. It comes as a package with the whole upgrade service they offer. Personally I can say, it works like a song ...

... but as said, that would require that you make use of the Panaya services.
