Hello,
we got an BO XI R2 Business Enterprise platform including Crystal Reports XI R2.
We bought an application bundled with Crystal Report V9.
I would like to know if it"s possible to deal with V9 reports in Crystal Reports XI R2 or do i need to install on the same desktop a Crystal Report V9.
If i can use only one version of Crystal reports (BOXI R2), once i modified a crystal report V9 document, can i continue to use it on a V9 platform ?
Thanks for your answers.
Vincent
I do not know for sure, but Crystal usually isn't so compatible across major versions - let alone the several version difference that you are talking about.
However, you could always try. Save an original version of a V9 report somewhere really safe from modification. Play with the report in XI R2 and see what happens. If it brakes, put the saved version back.
HTH,
Carl

Hi Vincent,
You can have more than one verison of crystal reports installed on the same machine; however, the installation must follow an order. Install the previous version first (CR9) and thenn the new one(CR XI R2).
About the reports, if a report created with a previous version of Crystal (for instance CR 9) is opened with a new version of CR, for instance CR XI R2, the report will be automatically updated to the newest version (in this case XI R2).
The same report should not be converted back to the previous version because it could get corrupted and or loose some features.
My advice to avoid issues, it is to make a copy of all reports created in version 9 and store them in a separate folder so that you can still have them available if you need.
I hope this helps,
Selenia
Thank you very much for your answers !
Best regards
Vincent
