Activity Area / Sorting Bin

Hi everybody,

I got a Problem with my transaction /SCWM/SBST and the result of the simulation.

My storage bins are defined as follows:

0020 ==> Storage Type

01 ==> Aisle

01 ==> Stack

A ==> Level

In my customizing I choosed Sorting Sequence rule 5 (Bin-Subdivision, Level, Stack).

Normally I would expect a sorting with following result:

0020-01-01-A =1; 0020-01-02-A = 2, 0020-01-03-A = 3

Can someone tell me why that is?

Thank you very much!

Regards

Daniel

Hi,

"I am using strategy P. So I get my subdivision automatically with " /1-4";"

One basic misunderstanding: this "subdivision" has nothing to do with the strategy P. Just remember, the strategy dynamically creates segments during putaway into the storage type - while the sorting is created when you trigger the transaction "Sort bins" (/SCWM/SBST).

The "subdivision" this sorting refers to is that you define an identifier for bin-subdivision in customizing under "Define storage bin identifiers for storage bin structures" and use this one in the structure definition.

The question is: are the field "aisle", "stack", "level" (and "bin section" (this is what it is called in the bin) for the matter) filed in the storage bin at all?

Hi Daniel,

aisle cannot be influenced by the strategy. I see two Options:

1. If you dont need to differ between the aisles just set the same value for every bin.

2. Upload your specific sorting sequence by using /scwm/srtup. But be careful, /SCWM/SBST may destroy the uploaded sequence.

Hi Christian,

I am using strategy P. So I get my subdivision automatically with " /1-4";

is it even possible to get my desired sorting? I have tried all the possibilities and function 6 comes closest to it. Only it sorts only within the aisle and not across aisles.

Thanks.

Hi Daniel,

to reach your aim you need a sorting sequence, that names stack before level. You dont use subdivision, so this parameter should not influence the outcome. Strategies 1,2 or 6 should be suitable. Just have a look at the performance assistant in Customizing. There you will find a good example.
