Material master - batch management not consistence with mara-xchpf

Dear Experts:

We have a problem that the user created a new material and only created Basic Data/Accounting/Costing View, inside these views there is no "check field" about "Batch management" but in table both of MARA / MARC the field XCHPF has value 'X' (checked).

in our system, there are 2 material no. has the same situation.

My question is why and how the field "batch management" has been checked and how can we remove it if there is no stocks, no open Doc and no any other transaction??

Thanks a lot.

the user probably created the material by referencing an existing material.

Thanks your reply (Both).

As what I posted, the user only created "Basic/Accounting/Costing" View, so there is no another plant with "batch management" has been selected.

Actully, our user had created one PR/PO and I had asked them to deleted them, and had used MM50 to extend view with "batch management", but the field "batch management" is checked and unchangeable. ( you might think, there is others open Doc. , I tried to change "base unit" and no error message, so I think there is no others Open Doc. )

batch management can be activated at different levels:

plant level, material level, client level.

In case of material and client level, the indicator is updated in MARA tables as batch managment is globally, the material is batch managed in any plant where it is extended to. if you extend such a material to a new plant, then the batch management indicator cannot be changed.

if the batch level is plant level, then one plant can have this material batch managed, while the other plant may not have batch management.

Whats your batch level?

just like to add, as I assume your batch level is either client or material. The indicator is at MARA level.

When you create a material by copy of a batch managed material and only create views that do not show the batch managemend field, then you still copy this indicator over.

Even the maintenance field is located at a plant view, it is not plant specifc in your case.

E.g. if you access the purchasing view without entering a plant, then you still get a lot fields. all those fields are not plant specific, they are all kept in MARA table.

All this is coming over when copying, even you did not specify that you want maintain the purchasing view.

Hi Jürgen L. :

Thanks your reply and you are totally right.

I have simulated the same situation - created a new material no. with basic data view only by reference a "batch management" material, and in table MARA the field XCHPF is checked. thanks a lot.

and I still dont know how to reset/un-checked the "batch management", I have tried to extend new view tried to un-checked the field "batch management", but the field "batch management" display as unchangeable. Is there standard way I can uncheck the field??

By the way, we are using "Material Level".

thanks

you can only remove the BM indicator if all stocks are zero and no batches exist in your system (table MCHA, MCH1 and MCHB)

so you may need to archive the batches first.

It is much easier to create new materials than doing all steps that need to be done to remove batch management.

Hi Jürgen L.

Thanks again.

The problem is that we can't change the field "batch management", the material no. we have DOES NOT have Batch No., NO stock, the only docments we have are one PR and one PO, and all of them has the status deleted.

And I had tried to created a new material no. in our QAS, what we did to this new material no. is:

1. Use MM01 to created "Basic data 1" view refer to a "batch management" Material no. - Only Basic data 1 view and click save, nothing else.

2. Use MM01 again to create "General Plant data/Storage 1" view, but the field "Batch Management" is checked and unchangeable, I think this is not reasonable, and I dont know is there any other way I can change "batch management".

thanks.

Last update :

The issue is resolved:

2. Use MM01 again to create "General Plant data/Storage 1" view ,( the field "Batch Management" is checked and unchangeable), save material no.

3. Use MM02 to change "Batch management", now the field "batch management" is changeable.

Thanks you all
