Dynamic Rolling weekly periods in Planning Book

Dear Gurus,

Is there a way to create a dynamic weekly buckets in SNP/DP planning books? That is , weekly bucket start data is not fixed (to Monday), first period should start from today (Current day, eg:Wednesday) till 7 day (till next Tuesday) and second period should start from next Wednesday and likewise. So first bucket start date is always current day.

I didn't find any userexit to modify bucket start date and end date.

Thanks in advance,

Hello Niranjan,

This is not technically feasible. Because the start periods and end periods are defined in the fiscal variants. If you define your own fiscal variants also, you can set a static day as start day. For example always Wednesday as the start day and Tuesday and the End day of the period is possible. However dynamic rollover is not possible because. If you modify the Fiscal variants, you will have recreate time series, which would result of loss of LC data.

I am just curious as to why you want buckets based on the current day. If you define a fiscal variant with weekly periods. The starting for the current week will be today till the static end day you fixed (for eg: Tuesday) and next day start day will be Thursday and the end day will still be Tuesday it wont rollover to Wednesday.

Hope this helps.

Mani, We don't use fiscal variants, we just use calendar weeks and not planning use FV.

The reason for dynamic week buckets is our users want to see data next seven days in one single bucket otherwise they have to sum manually to get this values.

Is there any way I can use Macro to generate such rolling week periods in planning book?

Niranjan,

I wish we had a solution for this. Generally if you want to override, we would create fiscal variants, to define our own periods frequency, period start dates and period end dates.

Now that you are not using any fiscal variants for your storage bucket profile means this can be successfully achieved by creating a fiscal variant and rolling that over everyday. However I am not aware of any way to automatically roll the fiscal variants.

One other suggestion I can give is, create another dataview with a period of Daily buckets. And at the end of every 7 days from the current date, you can sum the values and display in a temporary KF if it is only for viewing purposes or a permanent KF if you would like to save.

If you want to try out this option, I can give some pointers on what macro elements and functions to use. However we cannot use macro to achieve the rollover functionality.

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks Mani.

I checked the system and I didn't find any userexit/Badi to change bucket dates though I found the SAP code where it is being filled. I don't want to change std SAP code for this requirement.

I am thinking of changing PB to daily bucket and using macro, sum values into first day bucket (current day) and hide rest 6 days (Column) and repeat this rest of the weeks.

Hi,

That is a good way to proceed. Pls ensure that the row is not editable so that you can avoid accidental changes to the totals column.

Thanks

Hi Niranjan,

In the define planning book screen under data view tab,

check the fields "from" dates next to TB profile ID (past)
