SAP BW as a simple datasource only

Hello,

we plan to integrate BO Enterprise to SAP BW. Actually we want to use SAP BW as a datasource for universes only, no BW Publishing, Crystal reports, etc... . It should be possible to build universes on top of Infocubes, Infosets, DSOs and BW Queries and create reports with Webi.

I have read the Install and Admin Guide and now I am wondering if it is necessary to setup the SAP BW System as authenticating system in BO or is it enough to import the proper transports and setup RFC communication?

By the way, maybe somebody can tell me which transports I need if I only want to report on Infocubes, Infosets, DSOs and BW Queries? I know it is stated in the documentation, but I didn't get it so far.

hi,

if you want to use Web Intelligence with Universes you don't need all transports - you only need those for the authentication.

In terms of configuring the SAP authentication on the BusinessObjects system - that is needed assuming you want to have SSO.
